Special Education Today newsletter 4(12)
What were the haps for the week beginning 9 September 2024?
Yes, indeedy. This is another issue of the weekly newsletter for Special Education Today. It contains the usual contents: Photo, Status Report, ToC (post-hoc), and Comments.
Photo
Well, it’s not really one photo, but nine of them strung together. Alert readers will recall that I inserted images over the past few weeks that showed a new path at Riverview Park. Esteemed reader David B. told me via back channels that the path went nowhere. I thought, '“Hmmm…that’s testable.” Here’s the result of a test.
I walked about 60 meters along the path, then turned about and retraced my steps in the reverse order. Guess what! I got back where I started.
David’s analysis may be correct. I didn’t find anything more than path. That could be nowhere.
Status
Visitors have opened an average of just under 600 pages per day (range: 80-1400) on SET over the past three weeks.
Here’s a “thank you” to four ‘Stacks that are recommending SET. Their recommendations have brought in greater than 50 subscribers to our little niche on the intertubes: Creator Experiments, A Great Leap, and Tom Zirpoli.
In a similar vein, here’s to Jan H., Tina C., Michael G., Clay K., Bryan W., Carol W., Betsy T., and Nadine D. They’ve all referred new subscribers to SET—and a special salute to Michael G., Larry M., and Maryanne L. who have sent paying subscribers to join us!
We do have a niche that’s sorta smallish. For perspective, there are ‘Stacks that have 10s of 1000s of paying subscribers: Letters from an American, The Dispatch, The Bulwark+ and more. They get traffic on the order of 100000 visits
Last week’s contents
Here’s a list of the posts from SET for the previous week. Did you miss any of them? Now’s a good time to got back and read them before they go away—though you savvy paid subscribers can go back to read them any old time.

I’m not providing a big, boffo editorial for this week’s newsletter. Of course, I kinda doubt I’ve ever provided a big, boffo commentary for any of the previous ~40 newsletters. Sigh.
I shall, however, advise readers to make sure they take care of themselves (wear those seatbelts!), look out for neighbors and friends, and teach their children well.
