Might a few readers like to have an update for the week that began 23 September 2024?
Good morning, dear readers (at least it’s morning in my neck of the woods) Settle in for a quick review of the just-passed week on Special Education Today. You’ll find the usual sections: (a) a photo, (b) some admin notes, (c) links for the previous week’s post, and (d) not commentary.

The day after hurricane Helene passed by, my friend and colleague Peggy and I went to walk along the Rivanna River. It’s the same trail that has provided previous photos (the mystery trail just last week, but also the gar a few weeks ago, and more), but this time the river was quite high.
What we saw standing by the Rivanna was,, of course, nothing in comparison to the flooding that people in other areas. I am so saddened by the devastation confronting people in North Carolina and other areas (see this report from CNN). I am happy, for sure, that some friends are safe; Clay K.—some readers will recognize him—and his partner Sue were able to reach their home in the Asheville area after having to delay going there for a couple of days because of the danger.
Status update
Greetings and salutations to the dozen recent subscribers to SET. I’m glad y’all are here and I hope the newsletters and posts prove beneficial for you.
Shouts and cheers for those who dropped comments this past week. I’m looking at you, Angelique, Jen, Nate, Tom, Jane, and Mike. I read those comments carefully and find them quite helpful. Thanks!
I also want to recognize people who have been restacking SET content. In particular, Sandra D. has been referring to SET post repeatedly for weeks. Last week she restocked all five posts for the week. She’s using a great mechanism for alerting people who follow her about the contents here.
Please help SET grow. Everyone, please tell your friends, especially those who have serious interests in special education and disabilities.

Okay, here’s the scoop. There’s just not going to be any commentary this week. I’m just too pooped and I fear that anything I wrote would be sentimental, maudlin, or empty in some other way. So, let’s skip it.
However, that omission does not excuse us from taking care of our family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Nor does it remove the on-going instructional obligation…so teach your students well, please.
