Systematic and explicit PD
Being some notes about what how we might do a better job of teaching teaching.
I was cleaning up some piles of materials and documents1 in the local office of Special Education Today and I came across a packet of response cards that I used to carry in my brief case pretty much wherever I went. I would distribute these cards in classes, at lectures, and elsewhere when I was going to talk with a group about instruction or research. Intermittently during the talk, I would ask a question (true or false (yes or no) and ask the participants to show their answer by displaying the appropriate side of the card.
