I'd also ask how the child obtained the gun, was there an FBA ever done, was there a BIP for the child, was it being followed? I know these are mostly unanswerable questions but what happened and the statements that followed raise a lot of red flags. Definitely something we'll be discussing in my behavior classes next week (sorry - Friday's already planned and packed full!).
