Wow - thanks for sharing this! Dan taught the cog psych class I took during my doctoral program. It is definitely interesting to see the differences in perspectives between education and cog psych and where things are emphasized or not emphasized as the case may be. There was no mention of communication as a potential cause of the behavior and from all the things I have read and learned, that is a pretty significant cause. Children, especially those who are non-verbal and have not yet learned an alternative method of communication, use aggressive behavior to express frustration with tasks, with not being understood, with being told "no", with being tired, etc. because they don't have the words to say those things yet.
