News: American Masters profiled Kitty O'Neil

Did you know that the fastest woman on earth was deaf?

The US Public Broadcasting System's show American Masters provided a profile of Kitty O'Neil, the deaf woman who set land- and water-speed records, jumped from very high perches on buildings and from a helicopter, and was depicted as a Matel Action Figure and in a movie. It's quite a story!

Indeed, those SETters who teach courses for aspiring practicing special educators might find the brief (8+ min) video useful as a spring board for discussing disability and work, life, achievement, etc. Those special educators who work with children with disabilities might find it valuable as a way helping students understand another person's perspective. There are lots of potential uses for the show (or the longer movie)
