Today, in the US, some people will be lamenting the quantity of candy they’ve eaten recently. whether it’s treats secured from others in the evening of 31 October or the leftovers that they didn’t distribute at their doors that night.1 Others in the US and elsewhere will be helping los niños remember their ancestors today (and taking time to do so themselves tomorrow). Still others, with an eye on the new moon for early November, will celebrate Diwali Amavasya.2
