I have to add one credit to John's lovely story about Marty Kaufman who would have turned 83 today. In the photo in which Marty, Jean, and Mike are pictured wearing the umbrella headgear, John failed to mentioned that he was the DR board member who supplied the umbrellas, demonstrated how to wear them, and encouraged everyone present to put theirs on!
I think I still have my umbrella hat. We also, as I recall, took data about whether spring-loaded plastic ducks landed on their feet when we let them flip. It was an early example of crowd-sourced data collection, I’d estimate. Good times. Good sports on that board.
