Webinar on transition for students with LD
Would you like to learn about supporting students moving on from K-12?
The Division for Learning Disabilities is hosting a free Webinar as part of its Lunch and Learn series on February 10th at 1:30 EST. Here is a flyer from DLD describing the event.
DLD’s Lunch and Learn series provides actionable strategies that teachers can use immediately. In this edition of the series, Miriam Ortiz and Debbie Holzberg will highlight skills such as self-advocacy, executive functioning, and goal setting that are essential for successful transitions. The organizers of the webinar said that participants will gain practical, research-driven strategies to support the independence and academic readiness of their students as they move from high school to college or other post-secondary education or to career pathways.
Miriam Ortiz holds a PhD from Southern Methodist University. She is the founder of and consultant for Beyond the Research, LLC where she supports schools and families in areas such as the science of reading, classroom and behavior management, and implementation of evidence-based practices. Debbie Holzberg holds a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is an assistant professor at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Her research examines transition practices and supports for students with disabilities. Specifically, she examines interventions to increase self-advocacy skills of students with learning disabilities in the context of postsecondary education.
The Webinar will be presented over Zoom. It is free. However, registration is required. People may register at this link. A recording of the Webinar will be available to all registrants after the Webinar. So, register for the event even if the time does not work for you to attend live.
