W. Greenough honored by American Institute of Architects in Virginia
How does a man with autism receive such an honor?
Knowing that I’m fully risking appearing parochial, I’d like to celebrate an award given to a member of my local disabilities community. Willie Greenough—an individual with autism who lives at a local communal facility called Innisfree Village—has, for decades, built models buildings that local architects design. His work captures both the mathematical precision and the art of the architecture. In August of 2025, the Virginia chapter of the American Institute of Architects made Mr. Greenough an honorary member.
