Thanks much, John. Hard to believe I went to bed 82 and woke up 82 and now I've started my 83rd trip on this planet around the sun. I've had many privileges and good fortunes in my life, among them the great gift of having wonderful colleagues and students and helpful friends, including you.
Oh! I was thinking that your use of 82 in both instances indicated that you were referring to the hour of your birth...that it passed sometime after you awoke and before you wrote your comment. So, for clarity, yesterday you went to bed with the life-status of being an 81 year old. This morning, the day of your birth your life status has changed to being an 82 year old. Given that life-status change, you have now begun your 83rd trip around the Sun.
Have you ever contemplated counter-revolution therapy?
Happy birthday Jim and thank you for all your years of insightful thinking, writing, and service to individuals with disabilities. I remember very well the number of Kauffman et al articles that I read (and highlighted in yellow) in my doctoral program and throughout my career.
I had a wonderful “extra” from my time in DLD office, getting to know Jim, Dan, JL, Mike Gerber, and so many more, who will forgive me, but its Jim’s birthday! (And a UVA tribute!).
I am a college professor (teaching Special Education) in the Philippines and I use your book as our reference in teaching EBD. Thank you for the wonderful book! Happy happy birthday!!!
