The Arc's campaign videos for 2025
Who wouldn't find this effort to support people with disabilities compelling?
The Arc, that venerable, influential, and authoritative organization, has released videos worth watching. Dear Readers of Special Education Today will not be surprised that the videos are, for the most part, begs for donations. The good news, however, is that these solicitations are smart and compelling…and the funds that The Arc gets from donors does a lot of valuable things for our fellow citizens.
The Arc has programs advocating for disability rights, organizing at the grassroots level, networking (100s of chapters in the US), organizing and holding events (e.g., its convention), and informing the public. Oh, yes…and The Arc supports special education, of course.
The videos
Here is a catalogue of three videos released by The Arc in the summer of 2025. They illustrate the efforts of The Arc on behalf of individuals with disabilities and their families. Dear Readers might find them useful for raising awareness among family and friends, introducing The Arc during pre- or in-service sessions, or other purposes.
“Imagine A World” (31 sec):
“Overcoming Doubt” (1 min 1 sec):
“This is The Arc” (5 min 18 sec):
Readers can find many other videos about The Arc because it maintains a “channel” on YouTube, @thearc_us.
The Earth
This post emphasizes a US-centric program, but there are similar organizations elsewhere on Earth:
AFDO or Australian Federation of Disability Organisations;
ASTHA (IN);
FISH or Federazione Italiana per il Superamento dell’Handicaps (IT);
Mencap or The Royal Mencap Society (UK);
National Association of Parents to Mentally Handicapped Person and Their Friends, or UNAPEI (FR).
Surely I have overlooked some other organizations around Earth. Send me a note with the name and Web addresses of any that you think should be included here.
