So, I went to a local supermarket (probably a 3-acre space; huge) and, after getting a few usual things (cookies, ice cream, fish, veggies, cat food…did I mention cookies?…and cookies), I headed for the check-out. I got in line and there, among all the kid-friendly candies and magazines about the young, fashionable, and famous was a magazine with “ADHD” and an image of a female on the cover.

So I bought a copy.
Now, here’s the surprise. I anticipated that it would be full of malarky and trash. You know…pop psych at best and quasi-self-help for the most part. It wasn’t.
There are 18 articles on various subjects. The editor, Pamela Weintraub, introduced the issue with comments about the long-neglected population of girls and women who have ADHD. The authors of the articles may not provide reference-heavy analyses, but they address attractive topics. Fascinating.
Now, the publication is quite highly produced (“slick”) and designed to be attractive (which I found it to be). So, here’s Surprise # 2: It was not chocked full of advertisements! There were no more than two or three? Wow!
I’m getting nothing for publishing this post…no payment, inducement, etc. I only get a little pleasure in finding an example of a resource that’s not commercialized and all of garbage.
