Guests for the podcast—often referred to by its initials, “ERRR,” said as “E Triple R”—have included many eminent educators. These are traditional audio interviews for the most part. Still, I want to call attention to a couple of them, in particular:
The guest for one of the podcasts has a name many readers of SET will immediately recognize: Anita Archer. My much-admired colleague and friend, Anita appeared in December of 2021 and explained her rationale for and the features of explicit instruction. Highly recommended.
Another guest also has a very familiar name: John Hattie. Professor Hattie (we’ve only corresponded a couple of times; I’ve never met him FtF, so I’ll defer to the honorific title), whose work on integrating meta-analyses has had a profound influence on discussions of effective insstruction, discusses some of the challenges thrown at meta-analysis and the interpretations of them. It’s like a master course in what one can and cannot (should and should not) say on the basis of meta-analyses. It earns another top recommendation.
