There’s going to be a public party 27 April 2025 in Charlottesville’s Pen Park to celebrate the availability of Bennett’s Village, the accessible suite of park spaces. You’re invited!
Join Bennett’s Village, Charlottesville Parks and Recreation, and Josie’s Way as we host a free Party in the Park on Sunday, April 27 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. We can’t wait to celebrate the opening of the treehouse and the accessible path below it (Josie’s Way).
Please see the Party in the Park page on the Bennett’s Village Web site for details. I plan to attend and if you’re there, please, find me.1

Readers of Special Education Today who have been around for a while (and still can remember them) will recall that I’ve published posts about accessible playgrounds a time (7 September 2021) or two (15 March 2023) and, more specifically, about Bennetts’ Village (with photos 16 February 2025) and its development (13 September 2024).
Footnote
If you can’t get to this event in my neighborhood, go to an accessible play space in your neighborhood and hold a party (however small) there. Write a report and take photos and send them to me so I can add them to a later post about the Accessible Play Spaces Movement!
