Regular readers of Special Education Today may recall earlier posts about Bennett’s Village. Over on a local television show called Charlottesville Inside-Out there was an episode entitled “Have you heard about Charlottesville’s first all-abilities playspace?” Terri Allard published a story about it on 27 August 2025.
There’s lots of good content in this episode, including interviews with Bennett’s people, local public officials, and more. Start with Ms. Allard’s introduction and then follow her links to the video. She tells the entire dang story!
Charlottesville Inside-Out is a local public television program presented by Virginia Public Media, better known as VPM.org.1

Footnote
Those who remember Charlottesville or have an interest in learning more can obtain lots of prompts for their memories or images of what Hookville is like by watching. She’s been around here a long-long time. Her father and I used to have dinner together at the bar in a local restaurant. Terri is also the same Terri Allard who has recorded multiple albums of her own songs. See her personal Web site called “Terri Allard” (surprised?) and a Wikipedia entry.
