Machine algorithms and discriminating between ASD and ~ASD
What's going on with AI and identification of autism?
Given all the talk these days about artificial intelligence, machine learning, and similar terms, readers of Special Education Today might not be surprised that there is scientific work applying those ideas to autism. Lots of teams from around Earth (India, Sweden, the US…) are exploring whether AI might be good at telling whether individuals have autism (“on the spectrum”) or not.
I waded into some of this research. I didn’t go in too far (the math gets deep quickly!), but I learned a bit about a few studies that readers might find interesting.
