The calendrical change of seasons is coming. The celestial change (vernal equinox)will be here just before World Down Syndrome day!
This narcissus is ahead of the game. I took the photo on 11 March 2025. (Pat’s yard is about to be home for a lot of blossoms.)
In literature and conversation, folks often treat spring as a metaphor. It’s the season of new growth, renewal, a fresh start, etc. For some folks, I suppose, the changes occurring currently in US government can be spun as a spring. Others may want to spin this spring as a time of renewed commitment to children and youth with disabilities and their families.
I hope those changes Ive been covering recently here on Special Education Today are not the harbinger of increased disrespect of kids with disabilities and their families, of reduced support for them, of a dismal future for them. I hope this is a spring of renewed and growing efforts to promote success and the happiness that comes with it.
