The Association of Behavior Analysis International and the Wing Institute hosted the inaugural Single Case Research Conference in Minneapolis 26-28 September 2025. The theme of the conference was “Enhancing Replication and Validity.” The packed three-day agenda included presentations and small-group activities on a range of topics such as building and evaluating evidence-based practices, examining practices for reporting research, and improving the peer-review process for single-case design research. Given the importance and history of single-case research in special education, we were glad to see the conference bring together practitioners, researchers, and students.
While I (MJR) was attending the conference, I snagged a few photos of attendees and presenters. In this first photo, Virginia PhD student Bruna Gonçalves and I are standing in front of the poster we presented at the conference. The poster describes the community-engaged collaborative project on functional behavior assessment model for pre-k, called the ABCD model (Rispoli et al., 2025).

I also spotted Leslie Neely of the University of Texas, San Antonio, and PhD student Suzanne McClain at the poster session (see following picture). Suzanne presented a poster on quality indicators of single case research.

Some readers of Special Education Today may recognize The Wing Institute, because our late pal and SET subscriber from way back, Ronnie Dietrich was one of the founders of it. The institute houses a remarkably valuable collection of sensible and accessible documents focused on bringing research to bear on providing effective education.
Readers might also want to know that ABAI has an international conference planned for November 2025 in Lisbon and one focused on autism for January 2026 in New York City.
