IARLD May 2026
Who might be going to New Hampshire for the meeting?
The International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities scheduled its 48th annual conference 27-29 May 2026 at the University of New Hampshire in Durham )NH, US). The theme for the meeting is “Advancing Learning Disabilities Research: Strengthening Understanding and Innovation Across Cognitive, Academic, and Social Domains,” and presentations will emphasize research, theory, and practices for children and adults in both educational and social-vocational situations—basically, “life.” The schedule will include symposia, roundtables, posters, and more.
IARLD is holding the meeting in the US for the first time in a few years. Over the previous 40 years, meetings have been in Belgium, England, Taiwan, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, and Cyprus (among other locations). This year, Vincent Connelly (Special Education Today subscriber!) is coordinating the meeting and has it slated for his place of employ, the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
The deadline for submitting proposals for sessions is 28 February 2026 (but check the conference Website, as that date may be extended). Registration for the meeting opens 24 February 2026 and runs until 29 May 2026 (discounted registration available through 31 March 2026). Learn more at the IARLD Conference Website.
I’ll be joining Vincent at the conference this year.1 And, I’m guessing that there were be recognition of the recipient of the Marjorie Montague award that I mentioned here on SET in January. If any Dear Readers also plan to attend, let’s plan to connect at least during one of the coffee breaks.
Footnote
Disclosure: IARLD will pay my expenses and an honorarium for my talk at the meeting. Some of you may say, “Oh, my! Well, I am definitely not going to attend this year.” I understand. But don’t let it stop you from attending future conferences.
