Did you know it's the birthday of Dan Hallahan?
It’s probably all over Facebook, but for those of you who don’t know, 12 November is Dan Hallahan’s birthday. I’m wishing him a wonderful today (and all the days in the future).
Most readers will know Dan’s name. Along with Jim Kauffman (and now Paige Pullen), Dan has co-authored some of the most widely read textbooks in special education. If you studied special education, it’s likely that one or more of your professors assigned something Dan wrote.
As some readers will know, I had the good fortune to collaborate with Dan on lots of publications including reports of research that we conducted (I’ll list a few at the end of this post). For me, it was a great learning experience. I learned how he thought about research (and he thought about it a lot), how he promoted students’ participation in projects and publications, and how he generally took care of business.
Dan was (and is) a pro. But, he’s also been a pal. We’ve taken multiple trips to watch birds, attended parties and sporting events together, gone running (well, in years gone by), …on and on.
Here are photos of Dan over the years. Look at them soon, just in case he (or other subjects) asks me to take them down! They show him with some colleagues and friends.
I’m starting with one of my faves, though it is out of chronological order.
HB, buddy-ro! I hope it is a great one.
