On 26 November 2021, some of us celebrated the birthday of Zig Engelmann.

Professor Engelmann (though he had no advanced degrees), was the progenitor of “big DI.” That is, he and his colleagues developed instructional programs that clearly explicate systematic and explicit instruction. Research about effectiveness is abundant; you can check it.

In recognition of his b’day, the National Institute for Direction Instuction is making available one of Zig’s books for the cost of shipping. You can get Teaching Needy Kids in our Backwards System for somenthing like $5-10! Go to the NIFDI store Web page for this offer.
