Don't get all tipsy, please
What is the matter with tips for teaching?
When those who work or have frequent connections with children and youth search for tips for teaching or living with our kids, I think they are usually hoping to find a clue, a nugget, a pointer, a suggestion, a word or advice, or something similar that will their future instruction, behavior management, or interactions. We want easily understood, simple, readily applicable hints about what to do.
Although a searcher may sometimes find a sure-fire tip that fits their needs (and their biases), I fear that in the long run, the tips will ultimately prove to be pretty un-valuable. They’re likely to be worth far less than the time that it to find them.
