DISES 2026 is in Peru
Wouldn't this be a fine opportunity to visit with fellow special educators?
The Division for International Special Education Services is promoting its conference to be held 11–13 July 2026 in Cusco, Peru. DISES bills the conference as an effort to promote, “knowledge exchange, collaboration, human rights, and advocacy to those who provide services for individuals with disabilities.” Registration is open and special rates are available until 28 February 2026.
The theme for the 2026 conference is “From the Andes to the World: Empowering Education for inclusive Societies.” The advertising also features the word “yachay.” If one needs to learn more than what Wikipedia tells me about this word, please stay tuned…it appears that it is a reference to sharing knowledge, learning, wisdom and healing. More later!
Here is the flyer for the meeting (linked to the DISES Web page about the conference):
Cusco has got to be a great place to visit. The City of Cuzco is a UNESCO World Heritage site. According to entries in travel guides (e.g., Lonely Planet, Trip Advisor) there are lots of opportunities to learn history, culture, geography, and so forth, See the Wikipedia entry.
DISES is a division of the Council for Exceptional Children. Special Education Today receives no kickbacks for posting about the meeting nor for visits to the DISES site that originate from SET.
