Dear school leader, thank you
May your actions supporting kids with disabilities and their educators bring you accolades
Editor’s note: On 10 December 2024 I reported about an incident in which children with disabilities and their educators were allegedly denied service ar a restaurant. Maria V. Navarro, Ed.D., is the superintendent for Charles County Public Schools (MD, US). As superintendent of a local education agency, Dr. Navarro oversees and guides the policy, planning, and practice for the schools, administrators, teachers, and students of the CCPS. In her capacity as superintendent, on 5 December 2024 she sent a letter to the school community advising the constituents of CCPS that she was aware of an event in which students and teachers of a special education program were allegedly denied dining service at a local restaurant. This post is the text of a letter to Dr. Navarro thanking her for standing up for those students and teachers.
