Birdability, the organization that promotes accessible bird watching. is planning for its annual Birdability Week. The scheduled dates for 2025 are 20-26 October.
According to the Web page for the event, one can expect photographs, videos, interviews, discussions, and maybe more. The activities should provide opportunities to introduce children to birding, learn about accessible birding, visit with pals, and on and on.
Here’s a photo from a birding event in October 2024 in my ‘hood. If the photo looks familiar, that may be because I posted it 19 October when I wrote about a Local Birdability field trip.
I hope attend a local event for 2025. As plans develop, I’ll post about them here. For those who want a jump start, please consult the Piedmont Virginia Bird Club, as it’s been sponsoring accessible walks and such for years.
Also, keep watching this space for plans to gawk at hawks as they migrate along the Blue Ridge. As some dear readers will remember from newsletters past (e.g., 20 September 2021; 18 September 2023; 23 September 2024). The site for watching the migration at Afton Mountain is pretty much physically accessible.
